Folsom to Auburn then Discovery Park and back to Folsom

Roland's First Sub 6 hour Century! May 4, 2003.

Route

• Folsom

• Take Rainbow Bridge (actually the cycle bridge) to join the American River Bike Path

• Turn left towards the Folsom Dam

• Take the bike path to Beals Point

• Join Folsom Auburn Road

• Take this until about 4 miles from Auburn, turn right at Scotts Corner (opposite a boat service area)

• About 4 or so miles later you re-join Folsom Auburn Road. Take this to Auburn

• At the Courthouse turn right go through Auburn heading towards the US 49 and Lincoln Highway

• Turn right onto the 49, about 200 yards later, turn left onto Lincoln Highway

• Follow Lincoln Highway until it dead ends (this is about 3 miles) Turn around here.

• Return through Auburn, turning left at the Courthouse

• Follow Folsom Auburn all the way back to Beals Point

• Join the American River Bike Path at Beals Point.

• Pass Rainbow Bridge, and follow the bike path all the way to Discovery Park

• Turn Around at Discovery Park - this is where the distance markings on the American River Bike Path reduce to zero.

• Take the cycle bridge at Rainbow bridge (distance marking around 28 miles from Discovery)

• Return to Folsom

• 3050 ft climbed

Century Data (for the first 100 miles only) I significantly slacked off after that

• 2800 ft climbed

• 100 ft lower end point versus start point

• 17.6 MPH average

• Ride time 5h40

• Clock time (including rests of 2min, 6min, and traffic lights) 5h51

The 43ft "gain" in altitude between the start and end is due to atmospheric pressure changes, starting at 11:30am and ending at around 6pm.
